The seat-side routine, gate by gate

The seat-side routine, gate by gate

Every Hydration Kit comes with a boarding pass. It’s there so you never have to think about what goes on next. Here’s what each gate is for, and how to make the whole thing feel less like a chore and more like the best part of the flight.

Gate 01–03: clean, cleanse, mist

Gate 01 — Clean hands. It’s the step people skip, and the one that matters most. You’ve touched door handles, trays, armrests and your phone, so spray your palms with hand sanitiser and let them dry completely before your fingers go near your face.

Gate 02 — Clear for takeoff. Use one individually wrapped wipe to take off the day: makeup, sunscreen, the airport. Use gentle, sweeping strokes rather than scrubbing, and give your skin a moment to settle before the next step.

Gate 03 — Cloud mist. Hold the mist at arm’s length, close your eyes and spritz lightly. Then wait. Let your skin feel comfortable — not tight, not dripping — before your treatment. This little pause is the difference between a routine and a ritual.

Gate 04: eye patches or face mask?

This is your in-flight moment, and the one step where you choose.

Eye patches are for shorter flights, busy cabins, or if you’d rather not be seen in a full mask. Pop them under your eyes, recline and leave them for the time on the pack. You’ll still look like you, just a little more rested.

A hydrogel face mask is for long-haul flights and lights-down hours. It clings well, doesn’t drip and feels cool on warm, dry skin. Put it on once the meal service is over, settle back and let it sit for the time on the pack.

There’s no wrong choice. Pick whichever matches the time and mood you have.

Gate 05–06: seal and finish

Gate 05 — Seal in hydration. Once your treatment comes off, pat in whatever’s left on your skin, then smooth on a thin layer of moisturiser. In cabin air, a thin layer is more comfortable than a thick one, and you can always top up later.

Gate 06 — Lip landing. Lips dry out first and recover last. Finish with a little lip mask, and reapply whenever you remember. It’s the easiest step to repeat through the flight.

Making it a ritual, not a chore

  • Do it at the same moment every flight. Gates 01–03 after the seatbelt sign goes off, Gate 04 after the meal. The routine soon becomes part of flying.
  • Keep the pouch within reach. Seat pocket, not overhead locker.
  • Make the pause count. A podcast, an album or just the clouds. The minutes your mask is on are yours.
  • Repeat the small things. A light mist and a touch of lip mask before landing do more than you’d think.

Six gates, one pouch and a softer landing. See you on board.

Always patch-test new products and stop using anything that irritates your skin. Our boarding pass is a suggested order of steps, not medical advice.
